Date: 2/21/2020Our school is collecting Hy-Vee receipts. We earn money for them in the spring. If you and/or your family has some, please send them to school with your child. I can collect them in the room and drop them off for you in our school collection box.
Our classroom updated website is at:
I would also suggest that you check out our Arthur School website often.
- Thank you for coming to conferences. It means a lot and is a great way to model good parenting to your kids. It is an important way to show them that you are interested in their lives and an important way to stay up-do-date on their current learning. Plus, I loved talking to all of you again!
- Your child has been learning all about addition. I am attaching the addition and subtraction problems that he/she will be tested on monthly till the end of the year. Please practice getting fast at these problems at home.
- Check and go through your child’s backpack every night. Your child’s backpack should be emptied of paperwork each night.
- We go to the library every other week to check out a book. Please read the book your child picks out to him/her and send it back to school within a week.
We have officially learned the sounds Cc, Oo, Gg, Aa, Dd, Ss, Ll, Ii, Tt, Ff, Ee, Hh, Uu, Bb but your child will probably know many others because we do a quick review of all letters and sounds daily.
This week your child brought home a plastic bag with a book in it. Your child should read that book to you at night and then bring the book and the plastic bag back to school the next day so he/she can get a new book. BOTH the plastic bag and the book need to be brought back daily. This reading practice at home is super beneficial to your child’s learning this spring. I can already see the difference in the kids who are reading nightly. Please know that this piece of homework is very important.
The sight words we have learned so far are: see, to, up, the, play, for, it, can, not, me, in, my, big, and, go, you, is, one, look, we, come, red, run, two, a, I, do, help, blue, said, yellow, little, jump
Please review the sight words nightly with your child. Sight word boxes should be put directly back into the backpack so that we have access to them at school as well.
March 5th is our school Education Night. There will be educational themed activities at the school that evening for families to enjoy.
Spring break is coming the week of March 16th. No school that week.
Many of you are asking if I need anything donation wise. Right now we are still set! I will contact you in the next newsletter probably asking for cereal again.
