Our school is collecting Hy-Vee receipts. We earn money for them in the spring. If you and/or your family has some, please send them to school with your child. I can collect them in the room and drop them off for you in our school collection box.
Our classroom updated website is at:
I would also suggest that you check out our Arthur School website often.
- Next week is our conference week. Please be mindful of your time and try to be here a couple minutes early. I only have a specific amount of time per person and I try my best to stay on time.
- Trunk or Treat notices came home this week. Trunk or Treat is the way that Arthur celebrates Halloween. We do not come to school in costumes, bring costumes to school. Our classroom party will be a fall party not a Halloween party.
- Please be sure to check and go through your child’s backpack every night. Your child’s backpack should be emptied of paperwork each night.
- You should be reviewing the sight words in your child’s sight word box each night. It is very important that your child reviews these nightly since we are adding new words each week. The box should be kept in your child’s backpack.
We have been working hard on writing the numbers 0-20 correctly, counting forward to 100, counting backward from 20, and on learning the letters Cc, Oo, Gg, Aa, and next week Dd. We’ve also started to put numbers in order. If you want a math activity to do with your child make number cards for 0-20. First start by asking your child to tell you what the numbers are when you hold them up (out of order), then ask your child to put the numbers 0-20 in order. Please practice these letters and sounds with your child at home. We also started using the sounds to sound blend words. If you want to see your child read give them these words and ask them to read them to you cog, and after next week: dog, cod, God, add, odd.
The sight words we have learned so far are: see, to, up, the, play, for.
Donation alert: I could use a few boxes of dixie cups for help with the afternoon snack of cereal. We could also use a box or two of chalk for outdoor recess fun.
